How to use Image to KB
- Choose one JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Set the maximum size in KB and choose JPG or WebP. Leave dimensions unlocked if the size limit requires resizing.
- Compress the image, check the reported bytes and dimensions, then download the result.
What this tool does
The size limit can require lower quality or smaller dimensions.
Example
For a 420 KB photograph with a 100 KB upload cap, set Maximum file size to 100 KB. The tool tests quality and, unless dimensions are locked, smaller dimensions; it reports an error if the cap cannot be met.
Frequently asked questions
Will the result be exactly the target size?
No. The setting is a maximum in decimal KB (1 KB = 1,000 bytes). A successful result is no larger than that cap; some limits cannot be reached.
Why did the image dimensions change?
When the size cap cannot be reached by quality adjustment alone, the tool may reduce dimensions unless Keep original dimensions is enabled.
